2021 Quarter 3 update: John Mason

Metallum Resources Inc released a positive Feasibility Study (FS) for the Superior Zinc and Copper Polymetallic Project (Winston Lake-Pick Lake Project) , located north of Schreiber. The mine would have a 8.5 year mine life and require $145M to build mine/mill. Learn more.

Equinox Gold formally conducted their “official ground breaking” at the Greenstone Mine. Construction of mine, mill and all infrastructure will continue through to the end of 2023, with gold production following. The capital cost is $1.5B and mine life is 14 years. Learn more.

CEDC hosted Generation Mining at a well-attended community meeting in Thunder Bay for potential service and suppliers and workforce. The Marathon copper-palladium project has one year approximately of Federal Environmental Assessment, with construction scheduled to commence in late 2022 for the $665M mine/mill build. Learn more. 

Frontier Lithium has successfully produced battery-grade lithium hydroxide from a bulk sample extracted from the PAK Lithium Deposit (north of Red Lake). Exploration and in-fill drilling is underway on the adjoining Spark Deposit, to add to the collective resource of Electric Avenue. Learn more. 

Rock Tech Lithium continues with aggressive exploration (4 drills), road construction, environmental baseline and Pre-Feasibility (PFS) work, on the Georgia Lake Lithium Deposit. The FS for the Thunder Bay based lithium hydroxide facility (converter) is well underway.

Three of the largest exploration drill programs in Northwestern Ontario and Canada on gold deposits are: Great Bear Resources (Red Lake)—400,000 metres, Goldshore Resources (Kashabowie)—100,000 metres and Auteco Resources—65,000 metres (Pickle Lake).
