Thunder Bay CEDC Attending CANSEC to Explore Opportunities for Local Businesses

This week, the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) will be attending CANSEC, Canada’s leading defence and security trade show, to explore new opportunities for local businesses and strengthen connections within the national defence sector.

CANSEC brings together senior leaders and decision-makers from across Canada’s defence and security ecosystem. The annual event features keynote speakers including high-ranking government officials, military leadership, and industry executives who are shaping policy, procurement, and future capabilities.

Through its participation, the Thunder Bay CEDC is focused on learning more about the evolving needs of the defence sector and identifying where Northwestern Ontario businesses can play a role. From advanced manufacturing to specialized components and logistics, there are a wide range of potential opportunities for local companies to contribute.

“Attending CANSEC allows us to better understand the defence sector and advocate for Thunder Bay businesses,” said Jamie Taylor, CEO, Thunder Bay CEDC. “We’re looking to build connections with industry leaders and bring back insights that can help position our local companies for future growth.”

The CEDC will also be engaging directly with industry partners and organizations to highlight Thunder Bay’s strengths as a strategic logistics hub and a growing centre for innovation and manufacturing.

Insights and opportunities identified at CANSEC will help inform ongoing efforts to support business development and economic growth in Thunder Bay.
