Today, the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) hosted the Thunder Bay Mining Connections: Reverse Expo, bringing together regional mining operations and local suppliers and service providers to strengthen business relationships and create new economic opportunities across Northwestern Ontario.
Unlike a traditional trade show, the Reverse Expo put mining operations at the centre of the event, allowing participating service and supply companies to gain valuable insights into how they can become suppliers and position themselves to take advantage of opportunities within the region’s mining sector.
“Northwestern Ontario’s mining sector presents significant opportunities for local businesses, and it’s important that we help them make the connections needed to participate in that growth,” said Jamie Taylor, CEO of Thunder Bay CEDC. “Bringing together five mining operations and 43 service and supply companies demonstrates the strong interest in building these relationships. The Reverse Expo provided a direct link between mining operations and our regional business community, helping local suppliers better understand industry needs and identify opportunities to grow their businesses.”
The event supports Thunder Bay CEDC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Thunder Bay’s mining supply and services sector, encourage local procurement and position Thunder Bay as a key hub for mining-related business activity in Northwestern Ontario.
