The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC)’s Tourism Thunder Bay is pleased to announce $250,000 in funding support for the Grand Slam of Curling through the CEDC Tourism Development Fund.
“We are thrilled to support and welcome the Grand Slam of Curling back to Thunder Bay,” said Paul Pepe, Manager of Tourism Thunder Bay. “Following the tremendous success of the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, this event is another major milestone that builds on Thunder Bay’s growing reputation as one of Canada’s premier sport tourism destinations.”
The Grand Slam of Curling is taking place December 1–6, 2026, at the Fort William Gardens and will feature the world’s top 16 men’s and 16 women’s curling teams, bringing elite competition to Thunder Bay while generating an estimated $5 million in economic impact for the community. The city previously hosted the event in 2018.
“Thunder Bay has established itself as one of the premier curling destinations in Canada, with passionate fans, outstanding volunteers and a community that consistently delivers a first-class event experience,” said Kristi Petrushchak, Head of Live Events, The Curling Group. “Thanks to the continued partnership and support of Tourism Thunder Bay and the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission through the Tourism Development Fund, we’ll once again be able to internationally showcase not only elite competition, but also the incredible hospitality and vibrant community that make Thunder Bay such a special host city.”
The CEDC Tourism Development Fund provides financial assistance to sport, cultural, and business events that attract out-of-town visitors and generate overnight stays.
“The CEDC Tourism Development Fund is one of our most important tools for attracting major events to Thunder Bay,” said Jamie Taylor, CEO of the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission. “By investing in events like the Grand Slam of Curling, we strengthen our visitor economy, support local businesses, and continue showcasing Thunder Bay as a destination capable of hosting world-class events.”
Tickets for the Grand Slam of Curling are available at the Fort William Gardens Box Office and online through the Grand Slam of Curling website.
