CEDC Immigration Pilots

Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) Pilot

The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) is pleased to announce its selection to participate in the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot, a new initiative from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD). This pilot is designed to bolster economic immigration in select communities outside the Greater Toronto Area.

Running until December 31st, 2025, the REDI pilot will serve the Thunder Bay Census. As part of this initiative, the CEDC has been awarded up to 200 nominations through the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP’s) Employer Job Offer Stream. These nominations are a vital resource for local employers looking to fill or retain skilled positions and meet growing demands.

Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)

The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) is pleased to announce that Thunder Bay CMA has been selected to participate in the new Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP).

The RCIP is designed to bring the benefits of immigration to rural communities across Canada, helping employers connect with new talent or retain existing skilled workers to address critical labour shortages. Through this initiative, Thunder Bay CMA will have the opportunity to retain and attract newcomers who will strengthen our local workforce and contribute to the region’s ongoing prosperity.

As an employer-focused program, the CEDC will work closely with local businesses to identify labour force gaps, ensuring the RCIP addresses the current needs and challenges within our community. By fostering economic immigration, the RCIP reinforces Thunder Bay’s position as an ideal destination for newcomers to live, work, and thrive.
