Career Fair to Help Attract New LA-Based Company to City

Monday October 05, 2020 – A career fair hosted by VXI Global Solutions, LLC to gauge available workforce in Thunder Bay will take place on Friday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30, at the contact centre facility located in Victoriaville Mall.

The City of Thunder Bay’s Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) and Realty Services Division have been working as a team to attract a new contact centre to the community.   VXI responded to the opportunity, and the Thunder Bay team in partnership with local employment services agencies, is working with the company to help organize the Career Fair.

“This event is an important step in satisfying this global company’s needs and to help them choose Thunder Bay,” said Mayor Keith Hobbs. “We take seriously all opportunities to showcase our workforce and put a spotlight on Thunder Bay. Strong interest from contact centre professionals is important if VXI is to commit to bringing the jobs to our City, which will have a tremendous impact on the local economy.”

VXI established in 1998 and headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, employs over 21,000 people around the world including locations in the U.S., Central America, Europe, China and the Philippines, and services many Fortune 500 companies in the Telecom, Satellite and Financial sectors. VXI is seeking to expand in North American and open its first site in Canada.

The company is seeking professionals with experience in customer support and sales to fill the potential customer service, administrative and management positions. Based on receiving an appropriate level of interest from local job seekers, VXI would bring 300 new positions to Thunder Bay.
