CEDC Supports Local Business: Are You Ready to Re-open?

Thunder Bay CEDC is here to support local business, industry & tourism partners through re-opening

Tuesday June 02, 2020 – The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly affected the business community globally, in Canada, Ontario, and Northwestern Ontario. The Thunder Bay CEDC is a local resource committed to ensure the prosperity of Thunder Bay businesses, industry and tourism partners.

Many local businesses have adapted to the reality of COVID-19 and are now working hard to minimize its negative economic impact, as is the Thunder Bay CEDC team. As local businesses start to re-open and the government loosens restrictions, it is important that businesses stay informed with the most up-to-date information. The staff at Thunder Bay CEDC continue to offer consultations and advice for local businesses. Team members are in daily communication with provincial and federal tourism agencies, economic development agencies and financial institutions and are a conduit for businesses seeking access to information and support.

“As local businesses start to re-open, we know there will are questions and concerns about how to operate safely, effectively and in compliance with Provincial guidelines and regulations,” said Eric Zakrewski, CEO – Community Economic Development Commission. “If you have questions about safely opening your doors again, how to operate your business with new restrictions, or how to build and sustain your online presence, give our offices a call…we have experts who can help. We are conducting round tables with all business sectors going forward, so if you wish to be engaged and provide input on your barriers or challenges, please let us know. We are here to share best practices in your industry as they develop. Ultimately, the Thunder Bay CEDC is here to support Thunder Bay through the phases of re-opening and future operations.”

In times like these, it is imperative to our local economy that everyone comes together to help support local businesses. The local business community is a very significant part of our economy; generating hundreds of millions of dollars every year. Without them, Thunder Bay would not be the vibrant and contemporary city it is today. Thunder Bay residents can help support local businesses by continuing to shop with them online, purchasing gift cards for future use, and planning a post COVID-19 staycation at local attractions, restaurants and accommodation partners.
